The 5th annual Dauphine Contemporary Art Awards: Call for candidates is open
The Dauphine Contemporary Art Awards was launched in 2014 as a student initiative. Since then, it has become a genuine springboard for young visual artists. It is part of the Dauphine Art Days festival, one of the university’s main artistic and cultural events. Artists have until January 8th 2018 to enter the competition.
The Dauphine Contemporary Art Award is both young and ambitious. Its goal is to showcase young visual artists from all disciplines and help them gain visibility, by providing access to media partnerships and to the CROUS art gallery, a reference for young French artists. The awards are presented by a jury of distinguished visual arts professionals.
One artist - One curator
Once again, the Dauphine Contemporary Art Awards will be renewing the artist/curator tandem that proved so successful in the past two sessions. More than just loyal allies, curators have become key players in the world of contemporary creation. Today, curators, whether independent or part of an institution, have taken on all of the roles required to showcase and promote an artist’s work. They are once advisors, authors, exhibition designers, and even cultural producers. They now often play a part in the creative process itself.
Guidelines (how to..)
Each artist/curator tandem must present an original idea for an exhibition to a jury of contemporary art experts. The jury will select 5 tandems who will then exhibit in a dedicated space at Université Paris-Dauphine during the Dauphine Art Days, from April 3rd – 6th 2018. Two finalists, the Special Jury Award and the People’s Choice Award, will be invited to exhibit at the CROUS Gallery, rue des Beaux-Arts, in Paris.
